ROPE & SLING TESTING
CABLECON 528XCX Microprocessor based Digital Retrofit System
for producing a Test Certificate with No Add-on Software
For
new or existing horizontal/vertical proof testing machines
The CABLECON 528XCX System is a complete microprocessor controlled
data acquisition system designed with various operational features.
The basic system is a Load Measurement System that can be optionally
designed to produce a custom Test Certificate or Test Report
to meet the customer specifications. The data acquisition features
of this system will increase the measurement accuracy of new
or existing testing machines and provide advanced measurement
capability for meeting customers immediate measurements applications
and/or any future test requirements. The system is designed
to accept a force transducer, displacement transducer (optional),
provides the proper conditioning, multi-point calibration tables
for each range and simultaneously display the real time load,
peak load, displacement (optional) and the rate of load in English
or Metric Engineering Units.
The CABLECON 528XCX can
be designed with a variety of options determined by customer
specifications. Most important is that all systems are built
to meet or surpass ASTM-E4 standards. Or, to upgrade an older
machine that cannot meet ASTM-E4, N.R.C., D.O.T., D.O.D., A.N.S.I.
AND MIL Specs calibration requirements.
Produces and stores up to approximately 300 Test Certificates
For the operator information, during a test, the system will
digitally display Peak Load, Real Time Load, Load Rate and Displacement
(optional). The digital values can be displayed in Pounds, Kilograms,
Kilonewtons or Newtons. The date reduction features of the basic
system will store up to approximately 500 tabulated test results
or 300 custom test certificates if the custom Test Certificate
or Test Report features are selected. The system will print
out a full sized (81/2"x 11") X-Y Plot of load vs time or load
vs displacement (optional) after each test, and/or print out
any of the stored test certificates at a future date. These
stored test certificates can be downloaded to a remote computer,
disk drive, etc, via an optional RS232 port. In addition to
the active digital displays and the data reduction features,
other popular control features (optional) include a Load Hold
Control which enables the operator to maintain testing loads
for a given period, and an Overload Protection Circuit for preventing
catastrophic overload damage to the sensors and testing machine.
Standard
Features of CABLECON 528XCX
System housed in an attractive, stand alone aluminum enclosure,
and is designed for operating in a rugged environment. Optional
rack mounts, also allow for easy cabinet installation.
Total system diagnostics check on every start-up.
Operate with a force transducer and displacement transducer
(optional). The system provides the individual conditioning
and the calibration tables.
Each load and displacement range has multi-point calibration
tables. The microprocessor will linearize the load date for
an optimum curve fit to meet ASTM-E4 calibration standards at
every calibration interval.
Simultaneously display the real time load, peak load, displacement
(optional) and the rate of load in English or Metric Engineering
Units.
System uses advanced technology for maximum digital stability
in 'noisy' electrical environments.
The least significant digit of the load ranges is easily changed
for maximum stability in high vibration and/or electrical noise
environments.
No front panel controls to adjust; all entries are made by the
front panel keyboard. Typically stores up to 500 tests results
formatted in tabular form to include:Date, Time, Operator ID,
Specimen ID, Area, Peak Load and Peak Stress. The formatted
data can also be printed as single tests, selected tests or
all stored tests.
Produce a full size (81/2"x 11") plot of load vs time or load
vs displacement (optional) with the axes labels, selected data
fields, date and time.
Where Test Certificates are not required, there are five available
methods for producing hard-copies of the resultant test data.
(A) Print the Current Test (Tabular Data) (B) Print the Current
Test (X-Y Plot) (C) Print Combined Current Test (Tabular Data
and X-Y Plot) (D) Print Specific Stored Tests (Tabular Data)
(E) Print All Stored Tests (Tabular Data)
System is designed with the future in mind and can be easily
modified, programmed and readily upgraded for any additional
options and, or future test requirements.
CABLECON
528XCX OPTIONS Feature to produce a full custom certificate,
supplied with a remote alphanumeric keyboard.
Certificate formatted to customers specifications with various
data fields for entering certificate information by the operator.
The certificate will include an inset X-Y Plot of Load vs Time
or Load vs Displacement (optional) after every test, with the
Axes Labels, selected Data Fields, Date and Time. This feature
will store up to 300 Test Certificates (without plots) which
can be produced at any time.
Where Tests Certificates are not required, Test Reports can
be formatted to the customers requirements by changing the standard
data fields and/or adding new data fields.
Displacement channel with a displacement transducer and associated
conditioning, with up to four available displacement ranges
and associated multi-point calibration tables.
Operate with two different force transducers and displacement
transducers (optional) in two independent testing machines,
providing individual conditioning and the multi-point calibration
tables.
Load hold control and control relays with features to select
the load level, the hold time and the droop value for maintaining
the load.
Data dump to a remote computer, via a RS232 port with applicable
data transfer software.

CABLECON 528 Description:The Cablecon 528 is a dedicated
digital load indicating system.
It can be
used for a new horizontal or vertical proof testing machine
or to update an existing machine that presently uses analog
pressure gages for indicating forcel
THE Cablecom 528 is comprised of high quality, state of the
art components which produce excellent results over a long period
of time, (These systems have already been installed on new and
used test beds and have a history of high performance). Designed
for ease of operation, the system will insure the user of an
ASTM-E4 calibration along with increasing the accuracy of resultant
test data. The Cablecon 528 can be designed using load cells,
pressure transducers, or both as force measuring devices.
BASIC SYSTEM FEATURES: Digital load monitor Load cell and/or
pressure transducer Fine zero control and concealed tare control
Fine gain control with built-in calibration circuit Housed in
attractive aluminum enclosure with rack mounts and adjustable
tilt stand Inner connecting transducer cable(s) and 115 VAC cable
APPLICATIONS: For highest accuracy in proof testing wire
ropes, blocks, chains, and nylon slings. For updating older proof
testing machines that cannot meet ASTM-E4, N.R.C., D.O.T., D.O.D.,
A.N.S.I. and MIL Specs calibration requirements due to the inaccuracies
and poor resolution of pressure gages, friction in the load train,
and/or antiquated recording devices.
SYSTEM DESIGN: The Cablecon 528 can be designed with a
variety of options determined by customer specifications. Most
important is that all systems are built to meet or surpass ASTM-E4
standards. NOTE: When retrofitting an existing proof testing machine
the Cablecon 528 will increase the accuracy of the test data along
with simplifying operation of the testing machine itself.
